Self-important twit: “Science should leave Texas”

In “Texas Censors Science” (Common Dreams, November 5, 2011), Christopher Brauchli informs us, irony-free,
Just when you think that science may have a fighting chance in Texas, its governor’s protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, something comes along to suggest, once again, that science may be happier finding a home in a different state.
Interesting because life sciences firms seem to be starting up in Austin at a fair clip. Why aren’t they leaving the state?
Why don’t they take the local Darwin lobby’s concerns as seriously as Mr. Brauchli does?
Like, why aren’t these people’s issues the key decider?
The fact that this is one of their issues wouldn’t have anything to do with that, right?

Why’dya think those biotech companies chose *Austin* rather than someplace else in Texas?
Quoth wikipedia:
Coincidentally, the most famous evolutionary biologists in the state are all at UT Austin also.
Austin is hardly the only place in Texas with a thriving biotech presence, and you wouldn’t know Travis from Williamson, so I suggest you stick to the culture wars.
And here we thought it was the friendly business environment.
If Texas would follow it’s standards and actually teach the controversy, we might find that science actually really begins to thrive in Texas. Removing the Darwin bullies and censors is the key!
