Interesting note by one of the producers Richard Denton. NOTE the RD stands for Richard Denton NOT Richard Dawkins. BBC Four: The programmes link the development of sceptical thought and scientific discovery to the growth of disbelief. Which do you think had the greater influence? RD: Philosophy had the most significant influence at least until Darwin. When Darwin comes along I think he wrecks the case for religion because his theory undermines the most convincing reason for believing in God - God as the master-designer. Once you have realised that all living things can have the illusion of design without there being a designer then there's no reason for God. Philosophy had already reached this conclusion but as the scientist Steven Weinberg says "It's not that science made religion impossible, what it did was make irreligion possible".late_model

OK, even what worked in the preview was dropped from the post so there are just some empty quotes above. Do a "view source" from the view menu of your browser and look at the HTML for the post, you should see the tags for bold, italic, and blockquote.Apollos

Acquiesce - all of these style modifiers are tags with open and close elements. Tags begin with the LT . What comes between them determines the tag. The letter "i" indicates italics and the letter "b" indicates bold. All tags must be closed, so everything after a "" tag is italic, up to the point where "" is encountered. (I can't show a literal example of a tag otherwise it is interpreted as a tag, which is why my examples seem obfuscated.) The "blockquote" and "/blockquote" tag indents the text and is handy for quoting material. bold italic
blockquote
If you do a "view source" from your browser and search for this text, you should see how the tags are used. P.S. If anyone knows how to make a tag show up in the preview I would love to know how; I've tried escaping with "\" but it doesn't work. And don't try typing a double "Apollos

Glancing at the page, these look like interviews that will appear on BBC4 as extensions to Johnathan Miller's Brief History of Disbelief There doesn't appear to be any audio links for internet listening; at least not yet.Apollos

If you ask me, Darwinism is the most souless, inhumane and evil ideology ever devised by we humans. Pretty much every bad thing right in the world right now can be traces back directly to Darwin and Darwinism. I also think that militant materialism is one of the main reasons why many Muslims hate the west so much.DN

Oh how wonderful they're making this bastion of collective intelligence available to the public. All involved are truly luminaries, lighting our dark path of myths and pseudo-science with their shining power of logic and reason based upon hard, scientific evidence available for all to see. What a gift.shaner74
