Are battles over the origin of life a recent science question?

 

Not according to Moshe Averick, who writes in The Confused, Illusory World of the Atheist,

In Talmudic literature there are records of encounters between Jewish Rabbinic sages and Greek and Roman skeptics that took place 2000 years ago. One of the central questions in this ongoing struggle is how did life come to be on the earth?

One wonders if those old boys would be impressed with how much more scientific the discussions are. Or would they ask if there has been any informative result?

  1. Well, one fascinating aspect of the debate is that while the scientific knowledge regarding what exactly it is that the debate is about (life) has increased by orders of magnitude, both sides claim that the science supports their position. Very interesting, don’t you think?
