Brazil: Scientists bolder about proclaiming skepticism of Darwinian theory?

Or neo-Darwinian theory, or whatever version of the theory has been used by apparatchiks to wreck skeptics’ careers?

Further to Paul Nelson on ID in Brazil (Brazilians, if you want the freedom to consider evidence rather than ideology, you probably must fight to keep it):

From WorldMag:

Scientists who reject the Neo-Darwinian theory of evolution are getting bolder about publicly proclaiming their skepticism of the explanation for the origins of life once universally accepted in the scientific community.

During a mid-November conference in Sao Paolo, Brazil, 350 mostly young research scientists and scholars from Brazil, the United States, Canada, Egypt, Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru gathered to discuss intelligent design (ID). The conference dealt “directly with ID evidence and proof, and how the present scientific paradigms fail to explain the origin and evolution of the universe and life on Earth,” said Enezio E. de Almeida Filho, director of the Sociedade Brasileira do Design Inteligente (Brazilian Center of Intelligent Design) in Campinas, Sao Paolo.

Attendance far surpassed the anticipated 150 and included scholars in astronomy, biology, chemistry, science, history, physics, and law. The professional interest in ID research made it clear the ID community runs wider and deeper than any of its members realized from reading published research papers or attending lectures. More.

The view from the – News desk is that Darwinism has a long run ahead of it anyway. There probably isn’t anything that tenured profs can’t turn into pop science, irrespective of reality.

Remember, our brains are shaped for fitness, not for truth. Fitness for pop Darwinism is adaptive right now, fact isn’t. It would be a bad hair day on pop science TV if anyone forgot that. 😉

This guy is said to be the Brazilian Michael Behe (We trust he still has a position.)

Brazilian journalist: Science and freedom walk hand in hand (Fine, but neither goes anywhere without courage. Who will stick to the research program when the Darwin goons are dispatched? Remember, Brazilians, they already know it isn’t true. That makes them more desperate, not less. )

I wonder how many of the attendees were biologists as distinct from, say, lawyers or engineers or neurosurgeons?Seversky

Isn't that lovely, a song in Portuguese written by the colonizers, proclaiming the natural beauty of their land. They then proceed to introduce on a massive scale the wholly alien beef industry, with incalcuable resulting damage to the native pampas fauna. They hack vast swathes of the Amazon yearly. Corruption means the rule of law has no chance, and the favellas of the big cities are 'no go' areas. Just some of this countries woes, and you use it as a beacon of science?rvb8

Posted in another thread:
One of the most popular songs in Brazil starts with an explicit reference to God’s blessings and their country’s natural beauty. This link shows that part of the mentioned lyrics in their original language (Portuguese): https://uncommondescent.com/intelligent-design/brazilian-journalist-science-and-freedom-walk-hand-in-hand/#comment-518610 Perhaps someday someone will demand that the reference to God in that popular song be removed or else the song banned? Who knows? We have seen recent precedents in other places, haven’t we?
