Climate changing for free speech?

This [government goes to Muscle Beach] all takes place in the context of an unprecedented meeting by 20 state attorneys general aimed, environmental news site EcoWatch reports, at targeting entities that have “stymied attempts to combat global warming.” You don’t have to be paranoid to see a conspiracy here.

Not everyone believes that the planet is warming; not everyone who thinks that it is warming agrees on how much; not everyone who thinks that it is warming even believes that laws or regulation can make a difference. Yet the goal of these state attorneys general seems to be to treat disagreement as something more or less criminal. That’s wrong. As the Supreme Court wrote in West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette, “If there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion.”

If these government officials have such contempt for others’ constitutional rights, who might they target next for “unacceptable” speech? More.

Who? Well, anyone with information that would challenge the official story, for one. It’s possible to get by with a Swiss cheese of an official story if no other version is allowed. For their own good, people don’t notice the holes.

NOT CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. If they are attacking, they are, then we must come to the original contract before the constition. It tis the natural right to truth and justice. THEN the right to speak to its favour. THEREFORE this right can only exist if their is a right to free speech. Then the constitution etc agreed with this. We have the natural right to truth and the constitution just enforces it in all political contracts between men. We should only say truth is our natural right. Then speech to enforce this right. Then free speech to enforce the speech right. John Locke must return. Another way is by looking at traffic signals. We don't have traffic lights to obey. Rather we have a right to be presrerved in our bodies. Then the lights are placed in places needed. then new ones here and old ones turned off. It seems like we obey traffic lights but really we obey the right to preserve our bodies. The lights back this up. likewise we should not demand free speech anymore then demand obediance of all to traffic lights. We must demand truth and so free speech. We must demand safety and so traffic lights. This is needed today because the bad guys are attacking free speech for claimed good reasons. They believe enough people will agree because of global warming etc etc. The people must be reminded of their contracts. They must not let their fear overthrow these contracts.Robert Byers
