Adminstrative: Spam Filter Acting Up

The Akisment spam filter is acting up and holding up a lot of comments it shouldn’t be blocking. If your comment doesn’t appear right away where in the past it had then it’s the spam filter. Every single one of my comments are being held up in it. So are about a dozen other members’ here.

Don’t ask why because I don’t know why…

It hiccups like this occasionally and goes away soon. I suspect it gets noticed and fixed at Akismet during normal working hours so it’s more prone to become a bothersome issue on weekends.

As a first time poster, neither of my posts has yet shown up. Yesterday I posted this to this thread of scordova: "So are you then saying that the incidence of mutations on a population is non-random, but shows some bias in favor of beneficial mutations which furthers the (intelligently designed) development of the species? And that also the survival of individuals with beneficial mutations is also not due to natural selection , or random selection, but that it shows a bias in favor of those individuals which further the intelligent design of the species?" I can't see any reason why it wasn't posted. Can someone help with it. thx.DavidS

What do we do if a post doesn't stick?

http://darwinianfundamentalism.blogspot.com/2008/04/expelled-box-office-43-above.html Check out the link above everyone. Congratulations to all of us here in the trenches. Especially to the founders Dembski, Wells, Behe, Meyers, Berlinski etc. And of course a special thanks to Ben Stein who’s performance and overall efforts are greatly appreciated and were superb.Frost122585

Yesterday, I tried to comment on this thread. Perhaps, it works here - just as a test: "In the top ten list of documentaries, only two started in more then 10 cinemas: Fahrenheit 9/11 and Expelled. On average, they grossed $28,000 per cinema... It's not easy to compare these numbers with "Expelled", which got $3000 per cinema, but was shown in 1052 places..."DiEb

Wordpress' sin regarding Akismet is not allowing for white listing -- it would practically be a non-issue if a white list were allowed, as Akismet would only need to deal with unlisted post authors. Another way to fight off spam is just to turn off pings. Trackback spam is a huge nuisance, and Trackbacks are only mildly beneficial anyway. Once pings are gone, spammers need a registered account to post comments. For user registration, security question verification is a spam bot's kryptonite -- and if they do beat the security question, it's easily changed.Apollos

Have you considered other ways of avoiding spam, like word verification?Larry Fafarman

Testing.... ...and an off topic question, an editor on Wikipedia censored a citation I've used here at times while leaving others alone. Apparently they did this because it mentions Nazism and Darwin:
Our whole cultural life for decades has been more or less under the influence of biological thinking, as it was begun particularly around the middle of the last century, by the teachings of Darwin…"(Hitler’s Professors: The Part of Scholarship in Germany’s Crimes Against the Jewish People by Max Weinreich)
They left this note: "Thanks for experimenting with the page Religion in Nazi Germany on Wikipedia. Your recent edit appears to have added incorrect information, and has been reverted or removed. All information in the encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable published source." But I already used that source in another section of the same article. Anyway, I don't have much experience with Wikipedia and I don't want to waste time reading the Expelled page on it if it's basically controlled by Darwinists who censor anyway. Anyone know if that's the case?mynym
