Why is it that our views on sex often tend to make us sound foolish?

I don't think Desmond Morris is an IDer :-)

Warren Bennis and Bert Nanus found through their leadership research that the great business leaders have (on the whole) stable, faithful marriages. Just how representative is Morris's sample of the powerful?

The beauty of EvoPsych, however, is just how much it can explain. ID detractors complain that no matter what is observed, we can always claim God as the explanation. EvoPsych is even more flexible than God. It has an explanation for every behavior in the world, and every behavior's opposite. How much would you be willing to bet that it has an explanation for Bennis and Nanus's findings?

I am glad that the previous version of this thread was removed. Those against ID come here for ammunition to make us out to look foolish. Why is it that our views on sex often tend to make us sound foolish?

The article is pretty absurd. First, the author tries to make the incredibly strained link between brilliance and risk-taking, and then between risk taking and cheating. Of course, this is silly. The "risk-taking" associated with coming up with a formula is hardly the same thing as the risk-taking involved with cheating and trying to get away with it. If brilliance itself were what got these men into skirts, you'd expect nerds, not jocks, to get lots of action while in college and high school, not years later after they're powerful and influential. Not all the men that he lists were obviously brilliant either. Some were just powerful and charismatic. This seems to dawn on Morris himself about halfway through the article, as he switches to the less strained position that men who have the opportunity and temptation to cheat are generally likely to cheat, and that sometimes intelligence is what gets men into those positions. This, however, is one of those "well, duh, tell me something I don't know" observations.

I only have time to go through the comments in the administrative windows which list them in order received on the whole site. I can respond in that window quickly by appending at the bottom of the comment. If I have to drop out of that window to do it another way it will take too much time.

Commenting is what I like doing here. Moderating is a pain that I can do without. If appending my comments directly onto others is too much to ask in return for all the time spent moderating then I'm going to quit moderating. Someone else can do it and I'll just be a regular user once more.
