Correction re Veritas Forum
| April 30, 2010 | Posted by William Dembski under Evolution, Intelligent Design, theistic evolution |
I reported here that, since 2005, the Veritas Forum seems to have gone exclusively theistic evolutionist. I’ve been reliably informed that this is not so. Names of people who have done Veritas events since 2005 include:
Michael Behe
Alvin Plantinga
Fritz Schaefer
Walter Bradley
Guillermo Gonzalez
Jay Richards
Scott Minnich
Fazale Rana

as well Dr. Rana’s astrophysicist partner Hugh Ross is featured in a video. As well, Dr. William Lane Craig has a keynote address that is very interesting as usual for Dr. Craig.
Though not ID per se: I really enjoyed this following speaker on the veritas forum:
Rumors of Another World – Philip Yancey

Bornagain,
You once told me that later on in Mr. Rana’s speech, actually during the Q and A, he addressed the issue of Adam and Even being far apart time-wise. Did that get recorded, to your knowledge?
I meant the video “Creation, evolution or both.”
Collin,
Dr. Rana goes into a little more detail here:
Does human genetic evidence support Noah’s flood? Fazale Rana – video

Dr. Ross explains the heteroplasmy discrepancy and how it relates to mitochrondial Eve in this video at the 59 minute mark::
“Creation as Science” – Hugh Ross – A Testable Creation Model – video

Book Review; Who Was Adam?: A Creation Model Approach to the Origin of Man:
Excerpt: The Bible claims that there was a genetic bottleneck at the Genesis flood. Whereas all females can trace their ancestry back to Eve (through the three wives of Noah’s sons), all males trace their Y-chromosomes through Noah (through his three sons). This predicted discrepancy for molecular dates of mitochondrial DNA and Y-chromosome data is actually seen in the scientific literature.

Collin here is the Dr. Ross video by itself:

Thanks BA. Very interesting.
Thanks for posting this correction. I was one of the people who commented on the previous post that there were no TE guests at Veritas.
oops meant to say “that there were only TE guests”
bornagain,
Thanks for the vimeo links. There is a great presentation by Dr. Dembski, I believe from 2004:

It appears to be one part in a multi-part video. I wonder if the other part(s) are available.
Isn’t it time to apologize to Veritas? You actually characterized them as being different from an earlier incarnation which
Provided the claim that due to their faith ID proponents have higher moral standards correcting yourself is just not enough.
Those all look like theistic evolutionists to me!
Could someone explain to me why Young Earth Creationists aren’t theistic evolutionists?
Do they believe that all that evolution that took place after the animals disembarked the ark was godless!?
So I’ll admit I’m confused.
Can we agree that “Theistic Darwinist” would better describe those we are currently referring to as theistic evolutionist?
I mean, from what I can tell, Michael Behe is a theistic evolutionist, and if he’s not, I’d sure like to know why not.
But he’s certainly not a Theistic Darwinist. Anyone who has read his books knows that.
To be sure, “theistic darwinist” may be a contradiction in terms, but if there’s anything that history teaches us it’s that people can hold to contradictory beliefs without caring to admit it, or even being aware of it.
John the Baptist. Accident of birth, product of Darwinian evolution, or sent by God?
Jesus Christ. Accident of birth, product of Darwinian evolution, or sent by God?
Mung-
The evidence is in-Jesus Christ, product of chemical reactions. lol

I found Dr. Fazale Rana on this veritas video. Beginning at the 40 minute mark Dr. Rana gives an excellent 20 minute lecture:
