NCSE’s Speaking Schedule
| September 16, 2005 | Posted by William Dembski under Education, Evolution, Intelligent Design |
Have a look at http://www.ncseweb.org/meeting.asp. One of my colleagues describes reading this page as “watching a car wreck.” I’m just sorry we can’t get a percentage cut from all the speaking engagements they are getting as a result of attacking us. Life is so unfair.
Several things things should impress you about this page. First, the number of talks to atheist organizations; second, the number of talks paid for by university biology departments; and third, Eugenie Scott’s willingness to travel. Accordingly, a friend of mine proposes the following motto for Scott: “I will pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to prove that there is no controversy over Darwinism on account of intelligent design.”

Kind of unrelated mate, but I recently completed for fun, a little musical tribute to the late Dr. AE Wilder Smith…you can check it out here http://www.pratap.com/jose/Lou.....rSmith.mp3
I’m trying to get clearance for using the good Doctor’s voice sample from his lecture “Is Man a Machine?” and I can’t seem to be able to track down any trust or estate or any kind of entity like that that would handle this sort of stuff. Like I said, I just did this for the enjoyment of it, and yeah, if it could help in it’s own little way, open some minds a bit, then that would be reward enough for me for doing it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
you can email me at [email protected] and of course, remove the comment at your discretion as it’s not really relevant to this topic. Appreciate it!
hmmmmmmm… an agenda maybe? Just maybe?

Well, maybe we can do a little something to help you out. When Eugenie visits our school in December, I can encourage the beatiful young IDEA biology majors and science students to bring Darwinalia to the event. Reporters and interested on lookers will ask these students, “What’s that?”
The students will then showcase the Darwinalia products, like a DarwinBot Panda Doll that recites all of the sounds and voices in the DembskiDozer video game:

After which the students will bat their eyes, smile, and hand out Darwinalia coupons.
How does that sound? What better way to roll out the DarwinBot product line? It would be absolutely scandalous.

PS
For the record, I intend to receive Eugenie’s visit with civility and courtesy. She actually is supportive of civil treatment of student IDists, and though she feels ID should not be in public schools, she feels ID should be discussed at the universities, and is not opposed to university classes on ID.
See my public exchange with Eugenie:

Evidently you can rent Eugenie for a wide range of fees.
At this link she’s going for a suggested $2500 per throw.

But at this link she’s only $1000 a pop.

I’d suggest a starting offer of $20 for the first hour and dicker from there. Quite frankly even that seems excessive.

Eugenie said:
“I joke that every nonprofit director has a goal of eliminating the problem the nonprofit was created to address — your goal is to put yourself out of
business….But damn…I have a feeling that I’m going to be stuck in this business for a while.”

Maybe now is the time to push even harder and in more states, if only to see how far we can make Eugenie travel in one year!
At Panda’s Thumb Ed Brayton brays:

Ed doesn’t seem to grasp what ll those speaking engagements have in common.
Hey Ed, does the phrase “preaching to the choir” ring any bells for you?
LOL
By the way, Brayton banned from his personal blog too. I may hold the record for number of evolution apologist website bannings. Hey, maybe I can get my name in the Guiness Book of World Records? That would be SO cool.
Genie is saving the best for last. She is coming to GMU. I give my speculation as to why:
http://teleological.org/WPblog/?p=77
I got wind of Genie’s visit through faculty contacts on Thursday. There are 3 PhD’s biologists associated with GMU who are publicly declared as ID leaning, as well as a minority of science faculty covertly in favor of ID. My speculation is these events serve as a Public Relations warning that the university will go after you if you publicly dissent: “We will do unto you (both students and faculty), as we did unto Caroline Crocker and Bryan Leonard.”
The idea presumably is, “Let’s invite Genie and have a rally to get public support for hunting down of IDists at our school.”
As I said, I and IDEA are not at war at this time with the NCSE because Eugenie is supportive of what I consider reasonable treatment of ID leaning students and the development of college courses where the pros and cons of ID can be discussed, and the discussion of ID on university campuses.
I do take issue however with the University spending money for Euginie’s visit while in the same year cutting an ID sympathetic Professor of Cellular Biology from their payroll.
Watching her speaking schedule is like watching a car wreck (Darwin’s car). It highlights the fact biology departments are unable to stop the flow of ID leaning science majors out of their universities. Witness the number of ID leaning biology majors who became ID leaning physicians!
The biology departments appeal to Eugenie for help. I guess the “ID faculty purges” and classroom abuse of ID leaning students by professors isn’t enough to get the job done!
