Steve Meyer’s new book, Darwin’s Doubt is overwhelmed with trolls … and customers … at Amazon

When Charles Darwin finished The Origin of Species, he thought that he had explained every clue, but one. Though his theory could explain many facts, Darwin knew that there was a significant event in the history of life that his theory did not explain. During this event, the “Cambrian explosion,” many animals suddenly appeared in the fossil record without apparent ancestors in earlier layers of rock.

In Darwin’s Doubt, Stephen C. Meyer tells the story of the mystery surrounding this explosion of animal life—a mystery that has intensified, not only because the expected ancestors of these animals have not been found, but because scientists have learned more about what it takes to construct an animal. …

Here are the figures for customers as at 6:59 PM EST:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #21 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)
#1 in Books > Professional & Technical > Professional Science > Evolution > Organic
#1 in Books > Professional & Technical > Professional Science > Physics
#1 in Books > Professional & Technical > Professional Science > Astronomy & Space Science > Cosmology

The troll removal source has sent some extra hands to what promises to be a rewarding job:

I’m very happy to see science and religion side by side. You have to love the 2 one star reviews….one not refuting anything, but attacking the publisher, and the second launching verbal attacks at Meyer. I purchased this book today and I look forward to reading with an open mind as I did, “The Greatest Show on Earth” by Richard Dawkins……aka the “Fred Phelps” of atheism.

Somewhere, two trolls are bawling up a storm in their cave.

Comments
The person doing the amazon trolling in the comment sections of the Darwins Doubt book is a scientist called Christine M. Janis you can easily look her up she is a paleontologist for Brown's University. She has left 100s of abusive comments claiming ID is not science and claiming anyone who supports ID is anti-science, thick or has no science education. She admitted she has not read Meyer's book! I emailed Brown University about her behaviour. It is not productive what she has been doing. A further look into her internet history showed me she has been doing it for years. Online trolling? Do these Darwinian scientists not have anything better to do?LoneResearcher

Yes, it is a philosophical question and the philosophical answer is that an evolving explosion is akin to a square circle or a finite infinite. That is to say, such a thing, by definition, is IMPOSSIBLE. Of course, darwinists have no trouble accommodating such absurdities (violations of the law of identity and/or non-contradiction) so I expect to hear back about how that IS possible. Sigh... p.s. From M-W: explosion - a large-scale, rapid, or spectacular expansion or bursting out or forth Note the RAPID and BURSTING aspects of the definition. I presume that you understand what "evolve" means and can now see how the one cannot be the other.tgpeeler

Yes, indeed, Eric has just spoken "of the devil" by Intelligent Design. Another way to put it from #4 - can we not speak of an 'evolutionary explosion?' This is a philosophical question that Meyer should be trained to face, though his activism for Thaxtonian-IDism might have clouded his judgment.Gregory

Well, speak of the devil! About 10 minutes ago Meyer's book showed up on my doorstep from UPS. Unfortunately, won't have a lot of time the next week of so, but I hope to dig in soon.Eric Anderson

This is why I stopped getting recommendations for books to read based on Amazon reviews. If you think the reviews are bad, try going to the "Christianity" forum on Amazon sometime.Barb

Those numbers look summer tan healthy. Hot stuff. Surely another book of our times to correct the old folks sad errors. YEC folk should read it to sharpen their wits about the criticisms against evolutionism. These are not our criticisms because of geological presumptions however they work to confound generally the error of Darwin and friends. Books critical or questioning of evolution do sell! One needs the credibility of Stephen Meyer in knowledge and high education however the people out there are open to interesting aggressive intellectual revolutions in conclusions in what is called science. It should be fascinating to everyone out of high school. YEC folk should also strike gard for books reaching excellent audiences.Robert Byers

When Meyer wrote "Signature in the cell", Biologos guys attacked Meyer insisting that Meyer is talking about Neo-Darwinism, when he was not. Now Meyer is actually talking about Neo-Darwinism, Biologos fellows got what they want. Wanna see what Biologos have for Meyer now.T. lise

What I have to say is that the visceral and often ill informed or willfully misinforming hostility of the objectors juxtaposed to the calm substance coming from the five star reviewers speaks volumes. I look forward to reading this book. KFkairosfocus

For those who missed it, here is Dr. Meyer's interview with Janet Parshall yesterday: Hour 1 – Darwin’s Doubt Charles Darwin knew there were holes in his theory of evolution, especially the unexplainable appearance of animal life known as the “Cambrian explosion.” Dr. Stephen Meyer, director of the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture, will discuss the latest scientific research making a compelling case for intelligent design! http://www.moodyradio.org/brd_ProgramArchive.aspx?id=100728bornagain77
