Earlier, I noted a recent CBS poll on evolution where

“Majority Of Americans Believe God Played Role In Human Evolution.” 62% actually. Only 21% opt for no role.

Breaking it down,

A YouGov survey shows that 62 percent of Americans believe God helped create humans. Thirty-seven percent of those believe God created human beings in their present form within the last 10,000 years while 25 percent believe human beings evolved from lesser life forms over millions of years but God guided the process. Only 21 percent believe that God did not play a part in human evolution.

Seventeen percent of those polled were not sure if God played a part in the existence of humans.

One significant increase is that

those who say God played no part in human evolution rose from 13 percent in 2004 to 21 percent in 2013, an 8 percent increase.

This may relate to the rise in the numbers of persons polled who claim “no religion,” but that question wasn’t reported as asked in this poll.

Some outcomes depend on precisely what question is asked, but no matter the interpretation, most Americans and most American Christians reject Darwinism, the dominant theory of evolution, and for many the Word of the Beard. And, significantly, they reject it at a time when the United States has led the world in science for many decades.
