Re high crime areas: If the perp does not have a gun or machete, just whack him really hard on the right wrist (or the left wrist if he is obviously left-handed). Get the wrist bone.

If he stuffs his hand into your mouth to silence you, bite his index finger.

You’d be surprised what happens then.

(I know all this from personal and family experience.)

If the perp has serious weapons like guns, I just can’t say. Never dealt with that. Not many here do.

Many of us are completely sick and tired of crime, and worn out with explanations for it.

But if we must gear up, we will.

“Darwin’s Dilemma” is superb, both technically and w.r.t. content. Perhaps even better than the earlier documentaries produced by Discovery.
